When timid Sung-gong is taunted by his high school mates and shoved into an adjoining room, it isn't simply a case of teenage bullying. In the next room, drugged unconscious, Jang-mi is being raped by her schoolmates. Sung-gong has refused to participate but the others insist. Ten years later Sung-gong is still scarred by the incident but rationalizes that he had no choice. Then, by chance, he runs into Jang-mi and painfully becomes aware that the cruel harm done to her is a debt that still needs to be repaid. But there are limits to redemption.

Born in 1984, South Korean filmmaker Don-ku lee studied drama at the Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts, where his graduation short, I Solve Everything Whatever (2006), won the Netizen Award at the Indie Boom Online Festival. He followed that with two other shorts in 2009, Help and Life of Dog. FATAL marks his debut in features.
