Synopsis

Boy, a young widower with native American roots, retreats to the desert after his wife dies of radiation following nuclear tests near their home. Boy is waiting for the end of the world and carves katchina dolls that supposedly contain magical powers. His refuge is suddenly invaded by Harry and Buffy, Hollywood actors who have come to the desert on a second honeymoon in an attempt to save their marriage. Their Bentley breaks down in the middle of nowhere and the couple is rescued by Boy. Boy holds them prisoner because of his desire for the woman and his ambition to create a better world with her... When DARK BLOOD's star, River Phoenix, died suddenly ten days before the end of the shoot in 1993, the film's insurance company became the owner of the unfinished film. Years later director George Sluizer managed to save the footage and in 2012 he decided to finish the film by narrating the missing scenes himself. "This terrifically played and superbly photographed three-hander reveals to what extent the 23-year-old star was an intense and unpredictable talent -- one whose short but impressive career clearly was cut off at its prime." -- Jordan Mintzer (Hollywood Reporter)
