Forty-something Pascaline runs a brasserie and her stylish dining room is fully booked for Valentine's Day. She thinks she's prepared everything. But how could she expect that an old flame from 20 years ago would suddenly reappear and ask her to leave with him to Rio? Her other diners must also cope with the unexpected. Thirtyish, bored housewife Rose informs her husband that she has a lover. Mia, approaching 50 and thinking of suicide, is romanced by waiter Lesley. And shy clerk Walter panics when he finds himself seated in front of the woman of his dreams.

Joël Vanhoebrouck studied at the RITS in Brussels, where he directed the short film Tunnel (1997) for his final project. He made his first professional short, Joséphine, six years later, then worked as an assistant director on several features before becoming a regular series director on Belgian TV. BRASSERIE ROMANTIQUE marks his directorial debut in features.
