MWFF leads Montreal cultural events in international press coverage

Montreal, December 15, 2014 — The Montreal World Film Festival leads local cultural events in international media coverage according to a new survey.


An analysis of press coverage of leading Montreal festivals and cultural events conducted by Influence Communication confirms a 2010 study; the MWFF is the most widely followed event abroad. And this coverage contributes to Montreal’s overall reputation abroad, with important cultural and economic fallout. Despite its moderate means, the Montreal World Film Festival has been more successful than any other domestic festival in highlighting the city as a cultural capital in the media of foreign countries whose tourist potential is important to Montreal in particular and to Quebec and Canada in general.
