This film takes place in the protagonist, Diana Diaz’s moment of waking. It opens with a close up of Diana asleep, the clock in the foreground reads 9:11. While dreaming she reaches out to an unseen person. In this movement a jump cut occurs and we find her in an empty Hi-rise office. There are no walls, desks or any other furniture, no markers of normalcy. Confused, Diana looks around the room, trying to understand where she is. She finds Jaques-Wood and their duet begins. A dance charged with passion, loss and loneliness. It is a dance of parting, leaving, being wrenched away from a loved one. This film is, in a subtle way, about the physic connection between lovers. Sometimes people who are very close can communicate across distance and time, like dreaming. It is set on very terrible morning in New York City.

Early in 1942, Nice (southern France) provides refuge to some 25 000 French and foreign Jews. They had fled from the (German) occupied zone - the roundups, the registrations, and the wearing of the yellow star. The Gestapo, with the help of Marshall Petain's (France's collaborationist leader) Police, was organizing the deportation of Jews. Arrested and transferred to (the French transshipment camp) Drancy, Jews there were piled into freight wagons that left for Auschwitz and other extermination camps. In September 1942, the German army took over the whole of France. The occupied zone existed no more. Eight departments in the south were by the Italian army. The Italians did not apply the anti-Jewish laws of the (collaborationist French) Vichy government. They protected Jew form French Milice (collaborationist police).
