Synopsis
What happens when you buy into the American Dream -- work hard, save money to retire, and finally live your life the way you want to and the financial rug is pulled out from under you? The lives of a group of eccentric retirees (George Hamilton, Valerie Perrine, Alex Rocco, Jack McGee, Barbara Bain, Mariette Hartley) are turned upside down when their beloved apartment complex is suddenly sold out from under them. They are working class people who want to be heard, to love, and to just get along in a world where everything is disposable -- not only their homes, but seemingly their lives. They’re old and no one gives a damn. When their apartment complex is sold, these tenants have to figure out how to come up with the money. They have to buy or get out. But life has its ups along with its downs... and you can never be too old for new beginnings. “The seniors in SILVER SKIES, both the characters and the actors, offer us a way to appreciate our lives today in a different way -- if we don’t ignore them.” -- Rosemary Rodriguez
Director
Born in Boston, Rosemary Rodriguez graduated from Brandeis University, then moved to New York City to pursue her passion for film. In 2001 she wrote and directed the feature, ACTS OF WORSHIP which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, was nominated for 2 Independent Spirit Awards, including the John Cassavetes Award for Best Feature. She then began directing television. Her episodic TV work includes Empire, The Good Wife, where she is a regular director (15 episodes, including the 100th), Manhattan, Rake, Elementary and Vegas. She is currently directing the new Marvel series on Netflix, AKA Jessica Jones.
