Welcome to the poorly known but wonderful universe of a choir. A world composed of astonishing people for whom a simple note of music can bring overwhelming joy and who are prepared to do enormous work to fulfill their dream of beauty. These are people who love to sing. In all places and at all times of the day. In the shower, while driving, preparing supper in the kitchen. But, especially, they love to sing together, men and women of all ages and all social backgrounds who are united under the banner of l'Ensemble vocal d'Outremont. On the program of their next concert: Mozart, Monteverdi, Purcell. The rehearsals are in full drive, diligently directed by Christine Harel with a harmonious mixture of passion and good humour. All the choristers are amateurs, in the best sense of the term. But this does not preclude a rigorous professionalism in their work, a keen dedication, a constant desire to do one's utter best. So that, in the end, the music is sung in a single voice, loud and clear. And it is also with a single voice that the choir members speak of the place of music in their lives. It is their soul and their kingdom, their temple and their secret garden. Singing relieves their tensions and it is never more than together in rehearsal that they experience such an intense feeling of community.
