After a stint with small-town papers he got a job as a cartoonist with the Toronto Star and worked as a photographer for Maclean's magazine. In 1968 he began making documentaries for CTV and the CBC. He made his feature debut in 1974 with THE HARD PART BEGINS and has since directed extensively for television in Canada, Britain and the United States. He has directed numerous features for both the small and big screens including: BLOOD AND GUTS (1977), PROM NIGHT (1980), CROSS COUNTRY (1983), A DREAM TO BELIEVE (1986), BULLIES (1986), SHE KNOWS TOO MUCH (1989), NO CONTEST (1994), NO CONTEST II (1997) and FROZEN WITH FEAR (2000).
