Louise and Nathalie are both in their thirties. Ten years earlier, they had both set their sights on the theatre, but only fun- and boy-loving Nathalie realized her dream while brooding Louise, who had a crush on her best friend, went on to become a prosthodontist. Now, a decade later, they meet up again when Louise and her husband Nicolas attend a play in Avignon where they have set up their dental practice together. Nathalie is the play's star and her boyfriend Matthias is its author and director. Louise goes backstage, where a surprised Nathalie greets her warmly. In the brief time she spends in Nathalie's dressing room, Louise's old buried passion for her friend is reawakened. Learning that Nathalie will next be playing in Copenhagen, Louise flies off to the Danish capital where she arranges to give her friend's career a boost by tricking her into meeting a famous stage director who is looking to cast his Paris production of Lulu. The scheme works and Nathalie begins to experience her friend's impending success vicariously: she abandons her own job and husband to live with Nathalie, attend rehearsals and generally make herself indispensable. But Louise and Nathalie have different ideas about where their relationship is heading. Louise leaves Nathalie no room to breathe and their liaison slowly spirals into a mire of misunderstanding and obsession. |

Catherine Corsini French director Catherine Corsini studied at the Conservatoire d'art dramatique in Paris under Michel Bouquet and Antoine Vitez before beginning her filmmaking career in the early '80s directing shorts. She made her feature debut in 1987 with POKER and has since worked regularly in both television and the cinema. Her filmography includes: INTERDIT D'AMOUR (1991), LES AMOUREUX (1994), JEUNESSE SANS DIEU (1995), DENIS (1996), THE NEW EVE (1998) and Mohammed, a segment of the omnibus film DON'T MAKE TROUBLE! (2001). |
