Congratulations, you have been chosen! the angel announces to our hero. When he was alive, he had committed a crime and he should have gone to hell, but now he is being given a second chance. He is allowed to return to life in the body of Makoto Kobayashi, a 14-year-old boy who has just killed himself. There he must stay until he can properly reflect on the bad deed of his previous existence. The new Makoto comes to learn that the old Makoto had a complex about his height, that he was introverted and had no friends. As well, he was a mediocre student and weak in sports. His only redeeming quality was his ability to draw. There was one girl, however, who showed interest in Makoto. Her name was Hiroka Kuwahara and she was the only one with whom he could talk easily. But even that relationship didn't work out well -- he discovered that Hiroka was flirting with an older man to earn spending money. This, together with the fact that his mother was having an affair with her flamenco teacher, his father was having problems at work and all his personal complexes, was enough to lead Makoto to suicide. But the old-new Makoto, now miraculously revived, has a much brighter outlook. He learns that many of his personal problems were the result of misunderstandings. He learns that what he previously regarded as faults in other people, merely made them more colourful. So far so good. But what about that crime he committed in a different body? |
