After working for three years in the United States, Filiberto, a young Mexican peasant returns to his native village hoping to remake his life and gain the respect he thinks he is due. But things have changed in his absence. His mother is dead and Luis, his best friend, has married his ex-girlfriend, Soledad. Filiberto finds himself involved in a quarrel over the village's water supply. He helps Luis escape the hacienda guards and takes him to the city hoping to find a solution to the villagers' problems. But Filiberto is a proud man and his ambition gets in the way. He has to deal with rejection and betrayal and learns that there is a line that even the toughest men can't cross.

Salvador Aguirre
Born in Mexico City in 1965, Salvador Aguirre studied at the Centro de capacitaci�n cinematogr�fica from which he graduated in 1987 with the short film, Mexico, a Friendly City, which was nominated for an Ariel award at the Mexican Films Arts and Sciences Academy. He apprenticed as assistant director with several Mexican directors including Felipe Cazals, Luis Estrada and Paul Leduc, and attended screenwriting workshops at the Mexican Film Institute. His filmography includes: El enemigo (1983), Con los pies en la tierra (1985), Agua limpia (1991), Un arreglo civilizado para el divorcio (1992), Reconstrucci�n del colector oriente, Guadalajara (1993), Im�genes de M�xico (1996), Ciudad de M�xico (1997) and Unamos esfuerzos (1998). TO AND FRO is his first feature. |
