Marc is a small-time hood. He and his friends, Nose the skinhead and Bof the graffiti artist, mostly hang around and dabble in petty crime. What Marc doesn't realize is that he figures in the plans of a powerful criminal organization, the Dark Souls biker gang. The Dark Souls need new blood, warriors to pursue the merciless campaign being waged against the Devil's Soldiers. Marc is recruited by Massif, a high-ranking Dark Soul, and Finger, the gang's hitman, promptly begins Marc's initiation into the closed world of the criminal biker gangs, a society whose members must leave their souls at the communal altar. Events happen quickly, too quickly for Marc to understand. He gets nightmares and he's not sure what they mean. What he does know is that murders are being committed and that he may soon be facing some difficult choices.
The biker milieu serves as the background for a reflection on what motivates a young man to join gangs, an examination of what lies at the core of this desire to belong... HOCHELAGA is a voyage to the heart of this quest for identity. -- Michel Jett
