THE TASTE OF OTHERS
Castella is a no-nonsense business executive whose wife insists on conscripting him for all her society affairs. Dragged to the theatre one evening to see a play which he's sure he'll hate, Castella finds himself instead charmed by the performance of its star, Clara. What follows is the stereotypical meeting of opposites: the philistine businessman and the intellectual artist are each surprised to find something interesting in the other. And this becomes the guiding principle of the story. The businessman meets the actress who is the friend of a waitress who meets a bodyguard who works with a chauffeur who drives a decorator who happens to be the wife of the businessman. This is what happens when people who should never have met, meet. Meet and maybe even fall for each other. It's not such an acquired taste as people might imagine. The film is an ode to curiosity, an invitation to exchange glasses with one's neighbour in order to see him differently... -- Jean-Marc Lalanne (Libration)
