Life is constructed of thousands of seconds, 365 days a year, every year. Yet as life passes, it is relatively few of those millions of seconds that give meaning and direction to the rest. Our fate, in other words, is decided in just a few seconds. As it certainly was for Sara and Marco. They met at university when they were twenty, in 1982, and they have continued seeing each other, on and off, despite having each been married to other partners. The film is divided into twelve short episodes, twelve chapters from the lives and loves of a couple growing older and changing (each of the chapters separated by half-minute animations by Laura Frederici). I want to recount the few important seconds (in our lives), the few scenes where we are truly the stars of our existence... by telling the love story of two ordinary people... as they pass through the events of the changing world, as they live in it distractedly, almost by accident. -- Gianluca Maria Tavarelli |
