Loneliness, ambition and a murder link two Argentinian families, the first upper middle-class, the second alternating between unemployment and small-time crime. In the former, while their elders quarrel bitterly over whether to sell the family company, 9-year-old Nicolas enjoys life but his 19-year-old sister Ana feels suffocated by the bourgeois milieu. Principal protagonist in the latter is Rub�n, a sullen, nihilistic young man who is constantly fighting with his hard-working father -- I won't go back home, he insists after his latest spat. Rub�n begins an affair with Susana, a prostitute who, like him, is a social drifter, moving easily between classes. One of Susana's clients happens to be Ricardo, brother-in-law and shady business partner of Roberto, head of the bourgeois family and its business. Ricardo wants to liquidate the company at all costs but Roberto refuses to sell. Enter Susana and Rub�n. The link between the two families has been initiated. Their destinies will soon be bound up in murder.

Albertina Carri
Born in 1973, Albertina Carri studied screenwriting at the Fundaci�n universidad del cine and participated in several filmmaking workshops. Since 1992 she has worked mainly in cinematography, assisting such directors as Mar�a Luisa Bemberg, Lita Stantic, Mart�n Rejtman and Eduardo Calcagno. She made her directorial debut in 1998 with the short Ni�os. I WON'T GO BACK HOME is her first feature. |
