27 MISSING KISSES
Germany - Georgia - France - United Kingdom - Denmark
2000 / 35 mm / Color / 96 min.

In a sleepy little town somewhere in Eastern Europe, 14-year-old Sybille arrives to spend her vacation with her Aunt Martha. By the time she leaves, the town will be wide awake. No sooner has the mop-haired nymphet arrived in town than she decides that she's in love with Alexander, the 41-year-old astronomer who looks after the local observatory. Alexander may be a lonely widower but he thinks that Sybille is too young for love. Not so his son, Mickey, also fourteen. Mickey is immediately smitten with the nubile adolescent but, even though she agrees to give him 100 kisses before the end of the season, Mickey's attentions are clearly unrequited. While Alexander pretends not to notice Sybille, the girl's effect elsewhere around town is quickly evident. She seems to have injected the local drinking water with a magic potion; everyone is soon pairing off for warm-weather hijinks. This activity is not without its hazards, however; Illiopolous the schoolteacher suffers a heart attack while in the company of his mistress, and Pjotr the night watchman has an unfortunate encounter with a weapons-grade steel ring. The arrival of a French captain in search of the sea and the secret screening of EMMANUELLE bring things to a head. And Mickey ends up getting only 73 of his promised kisses.
