In a lower middle-class neighbourhood in Lima, a group of youths are united by their love of rock music, soccer, alcohol and drugs, by unemployment and by their thoroughly unrealistic dreams of achieving a comfortable life with little effort. While they wait for that something which will deliver them from their dissolute life of discos and petty crime, the friends each try to find their own way of surviving. But the party is winding down; the life of rebellion and youthful fantasies is coming to an end -- the money has run out. Now they will be faced with some difficult choices in a society with rising unemployment and half its population under 25. Will it be a stable but low-paying job or will it be a life of crime? There's not much room between them.

Felipe Degregori
Born in Lima, Peru, Felipe Degregori studied filmmaking at the University of Moscow and began making short films on his return to Peru. In the 1980s he worked as well as a publisher, producer and assistant director for other Peruvian directors, particularly Francisco Lombardi. He directed his own first feature, ABISA A LOS COMPA�EROS in 1980. His second, TODOS SOMOS ESTRELLAS (1992), won prizes at several international festivals. |
