CARACAS, LOVE UNTO DEATH
Somewhere in a city in Latin America lives a teenaged girl named Aixa. She is pregnant and she doesn't know whether to have the baby or not. Carmen, her grandmother, takes her to a hospital to have an abortion. The baby's father, Ram�n, is a violent young man who is wanted by the police. He is against the abortion and has made threats against Aixa's life. The gynecologist, Sergio, may be the only one to help Carmen. She certainly won't get any support from Carmelo, the parish priest; he's definitively against the abortion. Science and religion are squared off against each other. Aixa's indecision keeps the debate alive. Everybody has their own opinion on the matter and nobody cares much for what Aixa thinks.

Gustavo Balza
Born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1965, Gustavo Balza studied journalism at the Central University of Venezuela and graduated in 1990 from the International Film and Television School in San Antonio de los Ba�os, Cuba. Since then he has worked as an assistant director and as producer on features. He has directed several shorts and commercials. CARACAS, LOVE UNTO DEATH marks his debut in features. |
