THE OTHER GIRLS
Fifteen-year-old Solange lives with her parents in a small town just outside Toulouse. Her father is struggling to keep his ostrich-farming business afloat and her flighty mother is trying her best to escape from the claustrophobia of the family household. At the technical college in the city where she is training to become a hairdresser, Solange makes friends with Gary, a sassy, street-wise girl. Solange immediately becomes part of Gary's group of like-minded friends, who talk and laugh loud, hit on guys, go out dancing and change their hair colour every week. Solange isn't like the others though, and she knows it. She's never had sex. Her virginity has become a burden which she would like to get rid of at any cost. A plan to lose it at a disco quickly falls apart when the stranger Solange picks up realizes how young she is, and a call to a radio talk show turns into a mortifying disaster. This isn't going to be easy. Hanging out with Gary and her friends have given Solange a taste of the embarrassments life has in store.

Caroline Vignal
Caroline Vignal graduated in screenwriting from FEMIS, the French film academy, and has a diploma in media language and technique. She previously directed two shorts, Sol�ne change de t�te (1998) and Roule, ma poule (1999), both of which were widely shown -- and won prizes -- at international festivals.
