In a village in Northern Iran that has been devastated by the earthquake a film crew arrives to shoot AND LIFE GOES ON... Hossein, an illiterate young mason, hired to serve the crew is offered a chance to act when a small role becomes vacant. By chance, Tahere, his neighbor, a girl whom he has been courting unsuccessfully, has a role opposite him in the film. Her parents had already disapproved of Hossein before they died in the earthquake and Tahere's grandmother continues to reject him because he has no house. But Hossein persists in his courtship, arguing that since the earthquake destroyed all the houses, everyone is now equal. But Tahere is obstinate in her rejection of Hossein. So obstinate that she can't even bring herself to play the fictional role of Hossein's bride in the film. |
