FILM, TV AND VIDEO MARKET MONTREAL, August 5, 1997 - The MONTREAL INTERNATIONAL FILM, TV AND VIDEO MARKET will be held within the framework of the Montreal World Film Festival, August 22 to September 2, 1997 at the Complexe Desjardins Hotel. "In the course of the last two years, we have successfully changed the Market format in order to take into account the new conditions prevailing in the production, financing and distribution of cinematographic works," declared Gilles B�riault, Market Director. The Montreal Market offers producers, financiers, television broadcasters and distributors an ideal meeting place favourable to discussions and deals. Around one thousand professionals from all over the world gather in Montreal for this annual event. The Market offers participants fully-equipped video screening facilities, a coproduction program where producers in search of partners can meet, a symposium with international lecturers, and a courrier service. Once again this year, the Market will serve as host to several foreign delegations, underlining the growing importance of Montreal as a business centre in the Canadian film and television industry. EURIMAGES, the pan-European fund of the Council for Europe for the support of co-productions, distribution and exhibition of feature films and documentaries, will use the Montreal International Film, TV and Video Market as its opening onto America. EURIMAGES regroups 25 European countries. UNIFRANCE, an organisation dedicated to the promotion of French cinema, ANICA, from Italy, EXPORT-UNION DES DEUTSCHEN FILMS, from Germany, are but a few of the organizations registered at the Montreal Market. Warner Bros., Miramax Films, Twentieth Century Fox, New Line Cinema, October Films, Le Studio Canal+, Diaphana Distribution, Home Box Office, Europool, Time Medien, Star Movies, Pandora, Movieman Productions, La Sept/Arte, Shanghai Television and Taurus Film, among others, have already confirmed their presence at the Montreal Market.
