Born in New York, Matthew Harrison began making movies at the age of nine, directing a 2-minute detective thriller called "Filching the Mazuma". Four frenetic days in the life of Redmond, a hapless denizen of New York's Lower East Side, including troublesome relatives, crazy friends, weird women, gangsters, the exploding Hindenburg, a pesky brick of cocaine, prophetic fortune cookies, subway shootouts and THE PLANET OF THE APES. Finding himself suddenly evicted and unemployed, Redmond decides to crash with his old buddy, Stretch, where he figures he can take it easy and leisurely pursue his spiritual quest for the truth. Not likely. A whacked-out beer distributor in the middle of a violent turf war, Stretch wants him to come work for him, as does Redmond's Uncle Sam, a good-hearted, small-time criminal. Conned into running an errand for his uncle out in Queens, Redmond chances upon what he thinks is his salvation on the subway -- a beautiful flight attendant named Megan. Convinced that he has found his angel, Redmond pursues the mercurial Megan even while he, in turn, is being pursued by Happy, his long-time girlfriend who refuses to believe that he doesn't want to see her anymore. As his life spins out of control, Redmond discovers that what seems like coincidence and mishap is actually the path to the truth he had been seeking all along.
