Paris in August. A woman in a pants suit and high heels rides her scooter around the 13th Arrondissement. Meet Annie Simonin, general practitioner making her house calls. Annie confronts reality with pluck. As a doctor she must deal with the harassment by a dangerous hypochondriac, Richard Piotr, and the passivity of young Laurent Blondel, who is HIV-positive. When things really get tough, she begins looking about desperately for answers -- in real life, of course, but also in her dreams. How can she rid herself of a hypochondriac who is convinced that she has contaminated him? She can always dream. She can always imagine that she's gotten rid of him, but, in fact, he's still very much alive. And he won't leave her alone. He begins to threaten her life. Powerless, she tries psychiatry, the police, even a retired hit man. When Laurent Blondel tries to talk to her, when he wonders how to keep living in a world where there's no place for love, she has no answers for him. Little does she know that he will be the answer to her own questions... |
