Dir.: Bernie Casey Born in West Virginia and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Bernie Casey took his masters in fine arts from Bowling Green State University. A first round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers, he played wide receiver for the 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams and won numerous NFL awards during his career. An accomplished painter, his art exhibited in galleries across the United States, Casey has played in over forty films since his debut as an actor in GUNS OF THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (1968), including Martin Scorsese's BOXCAR BERTHA (1972) and, most recently, Tim Reid's ONCE UPON A TIME... WHEN WE WERE COLORED (1996). THE DINNER marks his directorial debut. |

Three men who are dear friends and meet periodically to have dinner and talk about their lives, decide to convene again. We meet each man individually and become acquainted with his character before they all get together at the restaurant. Over dinner the men discuss various areas of their lives and their respective philosophies. When the meal is over, each man leaves singularly. The last man out is unexpectedly assassinated as he exits the restaurant. We then realize that the various persons we saw previously in his presence are part of the assassination plot. At the grave site we witness two people preparing to set up one of the other dinner participants for elimination... |
