A group of twenty-somethings in Auckland, New Zealand encounter modern love and everyday insanity. Ant writes about topless; Liz forgets to have an abortion; Geoff teaches himself to knit; and Prue just wants everything to be nice. Chaos ensues.

"I was walking down the street and the words 'Topless Women Talk About Their Lives' popped into my head, and I thought that would be a great title for something... So the whole thing about this character Ant writing a film and someone making it and that film being called 'Topless Women Talk About Their Lives'... well, all that was simply to justify the title of the film. Nothing much to do with the story at all... I liked the idea of an unsanitized portrait of people, of how they live, doing the things that young people normally do, without it being overladen with messages. Obviously I don't intend it to be meaningless, but I wanted to present a slice of life that felt real and that reflected the absurdity and the stupidity of real life." -- Harry Sinclair
