In rural Japan a few decades ago, working as a bus conductor was highly prized employment among young women. One of these young women is Tomiko, but apart from her job, Tomiko finds her life largely monotonous and without excitement. This changes one day when a new driver, Niitaka, joins the bus company and Tomiko is assigned as his conductor. Her female colleagues are charmed by the nice young man but Tomiko herself is wary. It seems her best friend Tyuyako had once worked with this same Niitaka and had even been engaged to marry him. She died in a car crash and Niitaka was the driver! Meanwhile there are a rumours going around of a bus driver who seduces his female conductors and kills them. Tomiko, who had always hoped to avenge her friend's death, watches Niitaka very carefully. Her obvious interest in the new young driver does not go unnoticed... "Maverick Japanese filmmaker Sogo Ishii, best known for THE CRAZY FAMILY, has come up with something different here -- a haunting, dreamlike mystery about a young woman who fears that the man she loves will murder her... A gripping, decidedly eerie experience..." -- David Stratton (Variety)
