She films Susana and Carlos, who are on the verge of breaking up after a marriage that has lasted ten years and two children. They are each seeking something more, something that has disappeared from their marriage under the pressure of daily routine. For Carlos, a workaholic, the easy way out would be simply to fall into the inviting arms of his sexy colleague, Viki. Susana, on the other hand, needs something less impulsive. Nora also turns her camera onto her grandmother (for whom age is no impediment to falling in love again), and onto herself, examining her own rocky affair with a pop musician. As the psychoanalyst who unifies the various thread of the film's plot points out, happiness in love is a precarious affair. In the end Carlos realizes that without Susana he is incapable of many things, among them telling the difference between coriander and parsley. |
