Pablo is seventeen and like most Spanish boys his age, he enjoys hanging out, going to soccer matches and having a beer with his friends. But Pablo has a secret. He lives in a Madrid apartment with his mother, Sonia, a lawyer specializing in domestic and matrimonial cases. Daughter of a bourgeois family, Sonia was a political activist and a member of the feminist movement when she was still at university in the '60s. An independent woman, she decided to have a child and to raise it by herself, without any input from the father. But Pablo isn't happy with her decision; he is obsessed with finding his father. Following leads, he travels to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. There he finally tracks down his father, Rafael. A former actor, a heavy drinker and gambler, Rafael works as a host on a third-rate radio station. Over the course of several days together, father and son get to know each other and each other's world. While Rafael gets to know a young man in search of his roots, Pablo gets to know the impetuous, bohemian world inhabited by his father. Then Sonia makes a surprise appearance...
