Pablo, a promising classical dancer, has come to New York to further his career, but it's the tango that everyone wants in the American metropolis. Here he meets up with the enigmatic Maria and her lover Pibe Alberto, a legendary tango dancer himself and now a local guru of the art form. In their company Pablo finds the true spirit of the dance and what Pibe Alberto calls the "otherness" of the tango. He enters into a triangular relationship with Maria and Pibe Alberto and the tango itself begins to control their destiny in a tale of love and hopelessness, desire, obsession and death. |
