Three stories about life and soccer, one of the principal rituals of the 20th century. A third-division player on a team from Santiago de Chile is offered a bribe and the opportunity of playing professional soccer. But he doesn't realize that by accepting the offer he might betray something even more important than his loyalty to his teammates -- his very essence. A boy from Calama wins a classic neighbourhood "Pichanga" contest, the kind that seems to go on forever. In the process, however, he loses the few pesos remaining from the proceeds of pawning his mother's last few possessions of value. Francisco finds himself stranded in a remote corner of the southern island of Chiloé, the day of an important match for the Chilean national soccer team. The television set in the area is at the house of the middle-aged Serón sisters. As the old men gather to watch the game, the sisters argue over which of the two will initiate Francisco into sex.
