This is the story of one of the world's most unlikely couples, set against the backdrop of South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Colonel Gerrie Hugo was already a seasoned veteran of the covert wars in Angola and Namibia when he was brought back to South Africa to participate in the government's "total onslaught" against the African National Congress. Louis Flanagan was one of the country's top investigative journalists, a woman who specialized in stories about South Africa's hit squads and the men who ran them... men like Gerrie. When Gerrie spoke out against the military's operation against the ANC, he "betrayed" his family, his army and his people. Not trusted by the ANC either, Gerrie was an outcast until he met Louise. At first he used her to get his revenge and she used him to get a story. But, over time, the relationship grew. While in hiding and on the run, Gerrie and Louise fell in love. Louise is now the chief investigator for the Truth Commission in the Eastern Cape Province and Gerrie is her husband, her partner and her most trusted source. But Gerrie is still an outcast, branded by both sides as a traitor.
