"Don't you know that a story always happens at least twice? First as a drama, then as a farce... It's like a corpse, a drowning victim, who keeps rising to the surface..." -- Cesare Pavese A few days in the life of Max who, on the verge of getting married, is struck by a memory... Believing he's heard the voice of Lisa, whom he once loved a few years back, he sets out to find her. Five characters caught in an adventure, a sentimental thriller, a romantic comedy that resembles a fairy tale, a dream or a nightmare. Blinded by their feelings, swayed by their senses, they try to understand what's happening to them... But, as a Chinese proverb has it, the most obscure place is always right under the light. "I was touched by the character of Max, who is looking for the ideal woman. For him the ideal woman is the one he can't have. Beauty, sensuality are of no consequence, only desire counts. It's an immature and typically masculine attitude that few men truly grow out of in their lives. Yes, plenty of us will surely be able to see ourselves in this film... We all chase after things for obscure reasons, and as long as we haven't come to terms with our pasts, as long as we haven't found the reasons for our pursuits of desire, we will continue to run. And this attitude applies not only to amorous relations; it appertains to all of life." -- Vincent Cassel
