Young-Min, a poet and professor of literature, is married and the father of two children. Young-Hee, a journalist and literary-critic, is a single woman. One day, after reading her complimentary article about his work in the newspaper, Young-Min calls Young-Hee to invite her to dinner. They begin an affair. At first they meet secretly in restaurants and motels but as their relationship grows Young-Min's lies grow bolder. He tells his wife he needs seclusion to write poetry and that he will be spending two months in a mountain temple. Instead Young-Min and Young-Hee spend the time together in a rented house by the sea. It is a passionate, tempestuous affair. They spend all day together, eating, drinking, quarrelling about mundane matters, but most of all making love. The two months pass quickly. The time for hard choices is approaching. |
