Following a holdup, François, the rebellious son of a prominent crime boss, barely escapes a deadly shootout. He decides to seeks protection from a friend of his father's, a man who runs one of the rival mobs. François and his clan are drawn into a fierce turf war with an untouchable and elusive older mobster whose vendetta is curiously personal. Father and son, crime and punishment. And love. François is given a bodyguard, a young henchman named Rufin, and they are told to lay low while the affair is sorted out. But no sooner have François and Rufin been joined by the rest of the gang than they find themselves plunged into a vicious internecine war. "I wanted to do a life of St. Francis of Assisi set in a contemporary world of the mob... St. Francis was a man who had lived through wars, was thrown into prison, was brought before the court by his father, and finally meet Saint Claire. I wanted to relate all that, show the fighting, the horror, the clan rivalries and stop at the point when St. Francis becomes aware of his situation. St. Francis would be what, today? The son of a real estate agent with fancy cars and his battles would be internecine..." -- Xavier Durringer
