Greenpoint. The New York City neighbourhood where Poles from all walks of life have been thrown together by fate and their own aspirations. Necessity or self-confidence and the American Dream have transported them across the ocean. On this side of the Atlantic, however, our intrepid immigrants find themselves cut off from their families, severed from Polish traditions and cultural roots, and ignorant of the language. Their interdependence and the harsh realities of big city life magnify their sense of isolation. The truth of their emigre existence is not necessarily what gets recorded on the videotapes they send back home. This film chronicles the experiences of half a dozen very different displaced Poles over three successive Sundays leading up to Christmas Eve. For better or for worse, this will be a Christmas to remember.
