À la fin du siècle dernier, dans la terre sèche et hostile d'un village sicilien, le temps semble s'être arrêté. Assujettie aux codes rigides de la morale, de la religion et des superstitions, la population locale se trouve à des années-lumières de la révolution industrielle qui commence à faire des ravages. Pina, une des femmes du village, a été surnommée "la louve" à cause de sa mauvaise réputation. Quand elle a envie d'un homme, elle ne recule devant rien pour le séduire, quel que soit son état civil. Brisant tous les tabous et les conventions, elle n'en fait qu'à sa tête, guidée constamment par les affaires de la chair. Mais voici qu'un jour elle tombe éperdument amoureuse de Nanni, un soldat revenu du front. Le jeune homme, par contre, ne rêve que d'une chose: se caser en épousant une fille "bien" et cultiver sa terre. Par conséquent, il résiste aux avances de Pina. Mais celle-ci semble avoir plus d'un tour dans son sac. | SHE WOLF
In a small village in the rough and arid Sicilian countryside, lives a woman nicknamed the "She Wolf". It is the end of 19th century and rural Sicilian society at that time is still somewhat primitive, scarcely touched by the effects of the Industrial Revolution. Village life is dominated by superstition, traditional morality and strict religious ritual and anyone who dares to flout these traditions is sure to be ostracized. But Pina is too strong-minded to care about public opinion. When she desires a man she will readily break social taboo to get him. This is what happens with Nanni, a young villager who has just returned from the army. Nanni rejects Pina's propositions but Pina turns Nanni's desire to marry and settle down to her own advantage. In return for her land as a dowry, Pina gets him to marry her own daughter, Mara. She then ensconces herself in the farmhouse kitchen and sets about to seduce her new son-in-law. |
| Né en 1942 à Milan, de parents siciliens, Gabriele Lavia étudie à l'Académie nationale d'art dramatique de Rome. Par la suite, il poursuit une carrière alternant entre le théâtre, la télévision et le cinéma. On le voit comme acteur, notamment dans GIROLIMONI de Damiano Damiani et PROFONDO ROSSO de Dario Argento. En tant que réalisateur pour le cinéma, il tourne IL PRINCIPE DI HOMBURG (1984), SCANDALOSA GILDA (1985) et SENSI (1986), films dans lesquels il interprète également un rôle.
| Born in Milan in 1942, Gabriele Lavia studied at the National Academy of Dramatic Art in Rome before launching his professional career. He has alternated as actor and director between the stage and large and small screens, playing roles in films by Dario Argento (PROFONDO ROSSO) and Damiano Damiani (GIROLIMONI) among others and directing classical drama on stage since 1975. He has also directed Brecht for television and operas in Milan and Verona. As film director his credits include IL PRINCIPE DI HOMBURG (1984), SCANDALOSA GILDA (1985) and SENSI (1986).
