Au dix-neuvième siècle, au Venezuela, un homme et une femme tentent de briser les chaînes qui entravent l'harmonie de leur existence. Soldat indien dans l'armée libérale, lui n'a connu rien d'autre que la guerre. De race blanche, elle a appris le sens de la vie grâce, en partie, aux privations. Le hasard les a unis. Las des combats, ils errent à travers les Caraïbes, avec une intense soif de vivre, essayant à tout prix d'échapper à la fatalité de la mort. In 19th century Venezuela, a man and woman try to break free of the bonds of destiny. He is an Indian, a soldier, "the Captain", and she is a white woman, poor and hungry. Dogs followed the troops and she followed the dogs. One day a faint memory, a dream of paintings and oranges, brings them together in an impossible love. Weary from combat, they wander the Caribbean fleeing death and searching for a new life. The Captain finds a "bilongo", a charm that brings luck in gambling, but there is a price to pay. The Devil always seeks out his debtors. |
| Né en 1959 à Caracas, au Venezuela, Luis Alberto Lamata écrit des scénarios et réalise des films et des téléromans. Il tourne également des courts métrages qui remportent des prix dans des festivals locaux. Avant de réaliser DESNUDO CON NARANJAS, il signe JERICÓ, son premier long métrage de fiction.
| Born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1959, Luis Alberto Lamata studied history at university before embarking on a career in television. For the small screen he wrote scripts and directed many soap operas and in 1984 he made his big screen debut with the award-winning short, "Félix o ¿sabe usted cuánto gana un cajero?" Lamata's first feature, JERICÓ (1990), was shown and won awards at numerous international festivals.
