Un immeuble moderne à Séoul. La femme de l'appartement 302 a disparu. Comme on ne sait pratiquement rien à son sujet, le commissaire Choi se trouve dans une impasse. Song-Hee, la locataire de l'appartement 301, pourra-t-elle l'aider à résoudre l'énigme? Song-Hee cuisine avec passion. Elle consacre ses journées entières à la préparation et à l'élaboration minutieuse du dîner rituel. Song-Hee est un véritable maître queux et elle réussit des plats dont d'autres oseraient à peine rêver. C'est toutefois par ses dons qu'elle a acculé son mari au bord du désespoir. Confronté tous les soirs à une suite apparemment interminable de mets, il finit pas avoir envie d'une nourriture plus simple et il la trouve, pas seulement chez le McDonald's qui vient d'ouvrir... Ne le prenant pas du bon côté, Song-Hee sert à son mari son petit chien, préparé de façon exquise. Une façon un peu insolite de mettre un frein à leur vie commune. C'est depuis ce temps-là que Song-Hee habite au 301. Un ingénieux architecte-décorateur a transformé le studio en cuisine ultra-perfectionnée, où elle peut maintenant s'adonner sans retenue à sa passion. Un soir elle sonne à la porte du 302 et elle surprend sa voisine en lui apportant une assiette pleine de bonnes choses à manger. Yoon-He refuse parce depuis un certain temps, à l'exception des vitamines grâce auxquelles elle est encore en vie, elle ne peut rien manger d'autre. The woman living in apartment 302 in a Seoul apartment building has disappeared and Inspector Choi of the city police is investigating. He inquires with the woman's neighbor, Song-Hee, who lives in apartment 301. Now Song-Hee is a passionate cook. Her whole day revolves around the planning, preparation and serving of the evening meal. The high point of the day is the celebration and consumption of this meticulously-arranged, multi-course meal. Song-Hee is a masterful and wonderfully imaginative chef but her obsession with cooking would drive her husband to distraction. Exposed to an endless series of elaborate dishes, night after night, he began to long for simple food and he found it at, among other places, the newly-opened McDonald's. Song-Hee wouldn't have any of it and decided to serve him his own pet poodle done in a delicate sauce. Ever since she has lived in apartment 301, equipped with all the modern culinary conveniences in a designer kitchen. One evening she decides to surprise her neighbor with a plateful of her newest delicacies. The woman in 302, however, is not a very good customer. A bookish, somewhat reclusive woman, Yoon-He has digestive problems and finds it impossible to take solid food. The mere sight or smell of it makes her sick... |
| Né en 1948 dans la province du Kyong-Buk (Corée du Sud), Chul-Soo Park termine ses études à l'Université Sung Gyun-Gwan en 1972. Sept ans plus tard, il réalise son premier long métrage. Producteur de télévision et chargé de cours, il s'intéresse particulièrement au rôle de la femme dans la société coréenne en évolution. Sa filmographie comprend, entre autres: NIGHT TRAIN (1979), STRAY DOGS (1980), BELL FOR NIRVANA (1984), TODAY'S WOMAN (1987), THE WOMAN'S WHO WALKS ON WATER (1990), SEOUL'S EVITA (1991), LOVE IN OUR TIMES (1994) et ADIEU, MON CHÉRI (1996, également présenté au Festival des films du monde cette année).
| Born in Kyong-Buk province, South Korea in 1948, Chul-Soo Park graduated from Sung Gyun-Gwan University in 1972. He directed his first feature film in 1979, NIGHT RAIN, and has since become one of the prominent cineastes in Korea, known particularly for his interest in the role of women in a changing Korean society. Chul-Soo Park is also active in television production and teaching. Among his other features are: STRAY DOGS (1980), BELL FOR NIRVANA (1984), A MOTHER (1985), TODAY'S WOMAN (1987), MY HOLLYHOCK FLOWER (1988), THE WOMAN WHO WALKS ON WATER (1990), SEOUL'S EVITA (1991), LOVE IN OUR TIMES (1994), and FAREWELL, MY DARLING (1996, also being shown at this year's WFF).
