Shelley est une adolescente qui voit très mal ses prochaines vacances d'été avec sa mère Mo et sa soeur Dee. Ses parents se sont récemment séparés et Shelley n'a qu'un désir, c'est de les voir se réconcilier. Emportée par son propre monde de musique et de magie, elle espère faire disparaître autour d'elle le vrai monde qui l'effraie. Et les vacances qui s'annoncent ne lui disent rien de bon. Cependant, d'étranges événements surviennent lorsque la famille arrive au bord de la mer. Abbie, une femme remarquable, décide de s'occuper de Mo et de l'aider à se ressaisir. Mo, qui se trouvait dans une sorte de cul-de-sac romantique depuis onze ans, se trouve soudain au seuil d'une aventure sentimentale inattendue tandis que les expériences de magie de Shelley tournent au désastre. Shelley, an Irish teenager, dresses in black and is fascinated by the occult. She is not looking forward to summer holidays with her mother Mo and her sister Dee. Her parents have recently separated and Shelley wants them to get back together. Wrapped up in her own world of music and magic, she wishes the real world would go away. A stupid holiday is the last thing she needs. Especially since Tom won't be coming. Tom, her dad, is thoroughly unreliable but she loves him nevertheless. His presence might have made the vacation tolerable. So Shelley reluctantly sets off with Dee and Mo for the seaside town only to discover that their usual beach chalet has been taken by someone else. This someone else is Abbie McGee, an eccentric-looking lady in extraordinary clothes. At first Shelley decides that Abbie is a "sea-witch", but she turns out to be quite a remarkable woman. She takes Mo under her wing and helps her get a grip on her life. Mo finds an unexpected opportunity for romance and Shelley's experiments with black magic go all wrong. By the end of the holiday they have all learned something new about themselves. |
| Geraldine Creed a travaillé dans l'industrie du film en Irlande et en Angleterre depuis plus de douze ans. Elle a été monteuse de nombreux documentaires, de longs métrages, de films promotionnels et publicitaires. Elle a écrit le scénario de plusieurs courts métrages dont trois qu'elle a elle-même réalisés: "The Metal Man", "Into the Abyss" et "The Stranger Within Me". Elle est aujourd'hui la directrice de Blue Light productions. THE SUN, THE MOON AND THE STARS est son premier long métrage.
| Geraldine Creed has worked in Irish and British cinema in various capacities for over a dozen years, particularly as an editor. In 1989 she set up her own film production company with Brendan McCarthy and, since attending the National Writers' Workshop at Galway University in 1989, Creed has published several short stories and screenplays. Creed wrote and directed three short films, "The Metal Man", "Into the Abyss" and "The Stranger Within Me" (which won special mention at the Festival International des Films de Femmes in Créteil, France in 1995). THE SUN, THE MOON AND THE STARS is her first feature.
