LE PÈRE

Après la mort de son père, Mehrollah, adolescent de 14 ans, doit se chercher un travail pour subvenir aux besoins de sa famille. Pour en trouver, il voyage à travers le sud du pays. À son retour, il s'aperçoit que certains changements se sont opérés parmi les siens. 		THE FATHER

Mehrallah is a 14-year-old boy who is forced to provide for his family after the death of his father. To find a job, he travels to the southern provinces of the country. On returning to his hometown, he notices certain changes in the family.
Né à Téhéran en 1959, Majid Majidi poursuit une carrière dans le théâtre, pour ensuite se diriger vers le cinéma où il commence par exercer le métier de comédien. Il joue sous la direction de Mohsen Makhmalbaf (SALAM CINÉMA) qui l'initie aux secrets de la mise en scène. De 1982 à 1991, il réalise quatre courts métrages: "Explosion", "Hudaj", "Examination Day" et "The Last Village". Avant de réaliser LE PÈRE, Majidi signe BADUK, son premier long métrage de fiction (1992), présenté la même année au Festival des films du monde.
Born in Tehran in 1959, Majid Majidi studied drama at Tehran University before beginning his cinematic career in 1980 as an actor. He then moved behind the camera to direct several short and medium-length films: "Explosion", "Hudaj", "Examination Day" and "The Last Village" (1993), which won a prize at the Isfahan Festival. In 1992, Majidi directed his first feature, BADUK, which was shown at the World Film Festival.
