Susy Connor, jeune femme séduisante, accuse son ancien employeur, Gary Fitzgerald, de l'avoir congédiée pour ne pas avoir cédé à ses avances sexuelles. En relatant les faits à Marion Lee, son avocat, elle ajoute qu'elle a l'intention de réclamer une somme de quarante mille dollars comme compensation pour le traumatisme qu'elle a vécu à cause de cette situation. Susy compte également sur sa soeur Katy et son frère Paul pour l'aider dans sa démarche. Mais l'un et l'autre demeurent sceptiques devant les arguments de leur soeur, d'autant plus qu'il savent très bien qu'elle mène une vie sexuelle très active. Malgré cela, Katy est prête à épauler Susy. Entre-temps, on apprend que Brian, leur père, souffre d'une maladie de coeur et qu'il a besoin de "quarante mille dollars" pour un pontage coronarien... Et pourtant, certaines rumeurs laissent croire que lorsque Susy et Katy étaient adolescentes, leur père aurait abusé d'elles... | BRILLIANT LIES
Susy, an attractive young woman in her twenties, complains to the anti-discrimination board that she was harassed and wrongfully dismissed by Gary, the insurance broker for whom she used to work. She's seeking $40,000 in damages. Marion, an investigator from the board, questions Gary and his boss Vince and they naturally have a different version of the events. According to them, Susy is a party-going temptress who led Gary on. Susy asks her sister Katy to corroborate her story and to confirm that she suffered stress since working for Gary, but Katy can't understand why her sister's testimony has borrowed from an incident that occurred during their own childhood - an incident of abuse involving their own father. Their brother Paul also has doubts about Susy's claims. Despite her misgivings, however, Katy agrees to substantiate Susy's story and accompanies her to a hearing at the anti-discrimination board. Gary and his boss Vince are also at the hearing... |
| Né en 1948, Richard Franklin étudie à l'École de cinéma de l'Université de la Californie du Sud où il a comme collègues des étudiants qui ont pour nom George Lucas, Randal Kleiser, John Carpenter, John Milius et Robert Zemeckis. C'est à la même époque, pendant le tournage de TOPAZ, qu'il rencontre Alfred Hitchcock, le cinéaste qui l'a le plus influencé dans sa décision de faire du cinéma. Ses principaux films sont: PATRICK (1978), ROAD GAMES (1979), PSYCHO 2 (1983), CLOAK AND DAGGER (1985), LINK (1985), FX2 (1991) et HOTEL SORRENTO (1995).
| Born in Australia in 1948, Richard Franklin studied film at the University of Southern California in a class that included George Lucas, John Carpenter, Randal Kleiser, John Milius and Robert Zemeckis. Franklin launched his own directing career in the '70s. Among his better-known features are: PATRICK (1978), ROAD GAMES (1979), PSYCHO 2 (1983), CLOAK AND DAGGER (1985), LINK (1985), FX2 (1991) and HOTEL SORRENTO (1995).
