Que se passe-t-il quand, après l'euphorie collective provoquée par la suspension apparemment définitive des catastrophes, très vite, un autre enfer se reconstitue, spontanément, à partir des débris de l'enfer précédent? C'est ce que tentera de découvrir Costa, un jeune procureur stagiaire qui se voit confier l'enquête sur la mort suspecte d'un mineur de la vallée du Jiu, dans la Roumanie d'aujourd'hui. Est-ce un accident ou un crime? Aidé dans son enquête par la jeune et jolie Alina, ingénieur topographe, il va se heurter à des obstacles de tous genres. Cependant, un coup de foudre va réunir Costa et Alina. Entre-temps, deux autres mineurs sont tués dans une galerie qui avait été fermée depuis longtemps. L'enquête, menée avec acharnement, commence à déranger les autorités locales, particulièrement les responsables des mines qui redoutent l'agitation des mineurs lesquels vivent sous la menace de la fermeture de l'exploitation. Costa, a young trainee prosecutor, is entrusted with the investigation of the death of a coal miner in Romania's Jiu Valley. There are suspicions that it may not have been an accident. Costa is helped in the investigation by Alina, an attractive young topographer. Costa and Alina quickly fall in love. Two other miners are killed in a passageway that hasn't been used for a long time. Costa's assiduous investigation of the incidents soon begins to bother the local authorities. The management of the mine dread unrest among the miners who live under the constant threat of the mine's closing. The officials attempt to hush the matter up. Costa and Alina receive phone threats... |
| Né le 9 novembre 1933 à Bucarest, Lucian Pintilie est diplômé de l'Institut d'art cinématographique et théâtral. Entre 1956 et 1959, il réalise des dizaines de reportages, retransmissions en direct et émissions théâtrales, puis jusqu'en 1972, une trentaine de pièces classiques et contemporaines. Cette année-là, son spectacle "Le Revizor" est arrêté par décision gouvernementale. Ses films sont: DIMANCHE À SIX HEURES (1965), LA RECONSTITUTION (1969), LE PAVILLON 6 (1973), SCÈNES DE CARNAVAL (1979), LE CHÊNE (1992) et UN ÉTÉ INOUBLIABLE (1994).
| Born in Bucharest, Romania in 1933, Lucian Pintilie studied at the Intitute of Theatre and Cinematographic Art and began his career in the theatre as a director, staging classical and contemporary plays both in Romania (1956-1972) and, after 1973, abroad. Pintilie made his debut as film director in 1965 with SUNDAY AT SIX O'CLOCK. This was followed by LA RECONSTITUTION (1969), LE PAVILLON 6 (1973), CARNIVAL SCENES (1979), THE OAK (1991) and AN UNFORGETTABLE SUMMER (1994), the latter two shown in the Montreal World Film Festival.
