Homme d'affaires important, George Oliphant décide de passer une commande pour la création d'une large statue de bronze destinée à être exhibée de façon permanente à la Galerie nationale. Et pourtant, Oliphant n'est ni mécène, ni protecteur des arts. Patron d'une puissante compagnie pharmaceutique, il tient à réduire artificiellement ses profits en déclarant 100% de la valeur de la statue lorsque viendra le temps de faire les rapports d'impôts. Et personne ne doit le savoir; ce sera un secret de famille bien gardé. Georgina, la fille gâtée d'Oliphant, aujourd'hui divorcée, possède beaucoup d'amis dans le milieu des arts. Par conséquent, on lui confie la tâche de choisir l'artiste et le sujet qu'il doit composer. Elle opte pour Lily Carmichael, une lesbienne qui propose comme thème de sa sculpture un nu masculin, dans le style du David de Michel-Ange. Au chômage depuis quelque temps, un certain Karl-Heinz Applebaum offre ses services comme modèle, ignorant qu'il doit poser nu. Mais la présence de la flirteuse Georgina l'aide grandement à accepter l'offre d'emploi. Sa femme Cecilia, membre dévouée d'une obscure secte religieuse, n'est pas très charmée à l'idée que son mari doit complètement se dévêtir pour travailler. Par ailleurs, pour tout compliquer, Georgina et Karl-Heinz commencent à s'intéresser à "autre chose" qu'à l'art. Mais quand George Oliphant décide de financer un projet de sculpture encore plus ambitieux, sa fille ne pense qu'à se venger... 		LUST AND REVENGE

Business tycoon George Oliphant has decided to sponsor the creation of a large bronze statue, to be donated to a new wing of the National Gallery. It's not so much that he's become a patron of the arts but that his pharmaceutical company needs to reduce its profits for tax purposes and the statue will be 100% tax deductible. And it'll stay in the family, too. Oliphant's spoiled, divorced daughter Georgina has links with the art world and she'll be the one to oversee selection of both the artist and his subject. Georgina picks gay sculptress Lily Carmichael who proposes a male nude in the style of Michelangelo's David. When out-of-work Karl-Heinz Applebaum successfully applies to be the model, he's at first unaware that he'll be expected to pose nude, but the presence of flirtatious Georgina gets him warmed to the task. His wife Cecilia, however, a devout member of an obscure religious sect, is thoroughly cold to the idea. Especially after Karl-Heinz and Georgina begin showing extra-sculptural interest in each other. When George Oliphant shows interest in commissioning another, more ambitious sculpture, Georgina plots her revenge.
Né en Hollande en 1940, Paux Cox s'installe en Australie en 1965 et commence une carrière de photographe. Ses photographies ont été exposées dans le monde entier. Après le succès international de son court métrage "We Are Not Alone, My Dear" (1975), il se consacre exclusivement à la réalisation. Parmi ses films: "The Journey" (1972), ILLUMINATIONS (1974), INSIDE LOOKING OUT (1977), KOSTAS (1978), LONELY HEARTS (1981), MAN OF FLOWERS (1983), MY FIRST WIFE (1984), CACTUS (1986), VINCENT (1987), ISLAND (1989), GOLDEN BRAID (1990), A WOMAN'S TALE (1991), THE NUN AND THE BANDIT (1992) et EXILE (1994).
Born in Holland in 1940, Paul Cox first came to Australia in 1963 as an exchange student and "hated" it, but he returned in 1965 to stay. He cleaned toilets, studied part-time at Melbourne University and set up a small photographic studio. His career as a photographer led to short films and, in 1976, his first full-length feature, ILLUMINATIONS. Cox followed this with two other features and, in 1981, LONELY HEARTS, whose success earned him an international reputation. His films since include: MAN OF FLOWERS (1983), MY FIRST WIFE (1984), CACTUS (1986), VINCENT (1987), ISLAND (1989), GOLDEN BRAID (1990), A WOMAN'S TALE (1991), THE NUN AND THE BANDIT (1992) and EXILE (1994).
