Paris, 1914. Une jeune femme, Marie Benjamin, est trouvée étendue dans un grand magasin, le visage extatique, un coupon de soie rouge serré convulsivement contre elle. Arrêtée puis transférée à l'infirmerie des Prisons, elle est longuement interrogée par Gabriel de Villemer, psychiatre. En découvrant la relation étrange et sensuelle que cette couturière analphabète entretient avec la soie, Gabriel ne pourra cacher son trouble. Il est vrai qu'il est lui-même sensible au plaisir délicat que les étoffes procurent. Dès lors, ces deux êtres que tout à l'origine sépare se trouvent attirés l'un par l'autre. Mais la guerre vient interrompre brutalement cette relation. Pour Marie, Gabriel aura été le premier homme à qui elle a pu dévoiler le secret de son intimité, le seul capable de comprendre son désir. C'est pourquoi, malgré les épreuves et les obstacles, ils se retrouveront et s'aimeront. One day in a Paris department store in 1914, a young woman is found lying on the floor with a piece of silk wrapped around her ecstatic face. Marie Benjamin is immediately arrested and transferred to a clinic where she is questioned by a psychiatrist, Gabriel de Villemer. He discovers that the illiterate dressmaker has an obsession with silk. Gabriel is troubled but not entirely surprised. He himself is partial to the pleasures of delicate fabrics. A relationship begins to develop between them: between patient and doctor, between woman and man, between two people from different worlds. But this nascent relationship is interrupted by the arrival of war. For Marie, Gabriel has been something of a confessor. He is the only man with whom she has been able to discuss her feelings. Which is why, despite the obstacles, she will find him again and, with him, love. Until the day when they understand that the passions which unite them can just as easily separate them... |
| Né le 13 février 1953 à Marnia (Algérie), Yvon Marciano a fait des études à l'École nationale Louis Lumière à Paris et a obtenu son Brevet de technicien supérieur de la cinématographie (Option Image). Il a été cadreur et chef-opérateur sur une vingtaine de courts métrages et de nombreuses émissions de télévision avant de réaliser trois courts métrages: "Autopsie" (1982), "La Face cachée de la lune" (1987), "Émilie Muller" (1993, récipiendaire de nombreux prix, dont le Prix du meilleur film au British Short Film Festival) et des émissions de télévision. LE CRI DE LA SOIE est son premier long métrage.
| Born in Marnia, Algeria in 1953, Yvon Marciano studied at the École nationale Louis Lumière in Paris and worked as a cameraman on twenty shorts and numerous television shows between 1973 and 1985. Marciano moved to directing in the mid-80s. His filmography includes: "Autopsie" (1982), "La Face cachée de la lune" (1987), "Émilie Muller" (1993, nominated for a César and winner of Best Film at the British Short Film Festival). LE CRI DE LA SOIE is his first feature.
