| Né en 1931, Alain Cavalier est diplômé de l'IDHEC. Assistant de Louis Malle et d'Édouard Molinaro, il entame une carrière cinématographique en 1958 avec la réalisation d'un court métrage, "Un Américain". Ses longs métrages sont: LE COMBAT DANS L'ÎLE (1962), L'INSOUMIS (1964), MISE À SAC (1967), LA CHAMADE (1968), LE PLEIN DE SUPER (1975), MARTIN ET LÉA (1978), CE RÉPONDEUR NE PREND PAS DE MESSAGES (1978), UN ÉTRANGE VOYAGE (1980), THÉRÈSE (1986), VINGT-QUATRE PORTRAITS (1990) et LIBERA ME (1993).
| Born in 1931, Alain Cavalier studied at l'IDHEC in Paris and served his apprenticeship, as assistant-director, with Louis Malle and Edouard Molinaro. He made his first short film, "Un Américain", in 1958 and his first feature, LE COMBAT DANS L'ÎLE, in 1962. Since then he has directed, L'INSOUMIS (1964), MISE À SAC (1967), LA CHAMADE (1968), LE PLEIN DE SUPER (1975), MARTIN ET LÉA (1978), CE RÉPONDEUR NE PREND PAS DE MESSAGES (1978), UN ÉTRANGE VOYAGE (1980), THÉRÈSE (1986), VINGT-QUATRE PORTRAITS (1990) and LIBERA ME (1993).
