Eddie Hartman, buveur excessif, travaille comme assistant dans une entreprise de pompes funèbres. Il rêve de tuer sa femme parce qu'elle le trompe ouvertement avec quelqu'un d'autre. Lorsque Theo Bono, auteur peu connu de romans à suspense, meurt dans un accident de la route, Eddie s'occupe de consoler Olga, la veuve de l'écrivain. Mais ce que le couple adultère ne sait pas, c'est qu'en réalité, Theo s'est fabriqué une mort imaginaire avec la complicité de Jennifer, sa maîtresse, et Mehlig, le gérant du salon mortuaire. Leur but est de préparer un complot meurtrier contre le richissime mari de Jennifer qui commence à devenir sénile. Eddie Hartman is a hard-drinking undertaker's assistant whose wife is cheating on him in public. Eddie fantasizes about murdering her but doesn't have the courage to do it. When Theo Bono, an unsuccessful mystery writer who is his arch rival, dies in a traffic accident, Eddie rekindles an old flame with the man's widow, Olga. But what neither Eddie nor Olga are aware of is that Theo isn't dead at all, but has simply staged his "death" with the help of his mistress Jennifer and the undertaker Mehlig. Theo is plotting to get rid of Jennifer's rich and senile husband and now that he is dead he has the perfect alibi. Things start getting complicated, however, when the mystery writer "posthumously" wins the Golden Gun book award and his modest life's work is given a new printing. |
| Né en 1950 à Kassel (Allemagne), Volker Einrauch étudie à Marburg, à la suite de quoi il s'installe à Hambourg où il commence à faire du cinéma et fonde la compagnie de production Josefine Film avec comme coéquipiers, Lothar Kurzawa et Hermine Huntgeburth. C'est d'ailleurs avec Kurzawa qu'il coréalise quelques courts métrages et un film expérimental. LA MAMAN DU TUEUR est son premier long métrage de fiction.
| Born in Kassel, Germany in 1950, Volker Einrauch studied linguistics and history in Marburg, then moved to Hamburg to begin his career in film. He co-founded Josefine Film Productions with Lothar Kurzawa and Hermine Huntgeburth. His filmography includes: "Phantomjagd über Gesicht und Landschaft" (1985), "Tod eines Nachrichtensprechers" (1985), "Banka und Nil" (1987), "Ungewiss is die Zukunft der Leibwächter" (1989) and "Und Wenn's nicht klapt?" (1990). THE KILLER'S MOM is his first feature.
