Benjamin, jeune avocat et bon père de famille, vient à peine d'ouvrir sa propre firme qu'il a déjà une cause à défendre, en apparence, tout ce qu'il y a de plus simple. Sa cliente, la doctoresse Maria Jonasson, accuse deux de ses collègues de l'avoir violée. Les faits semblent aussi solides qu'évidents: une visite médicale pour prouver qu'il y a eu contact sexuel, un témoin qui a trouvé Maria en fâcheux état, et l'enregistrement vidéo de l'incident, à partir d'une caméra de surveillance. Comme il fallait s'y attendre, les deux suspects nient leur culpabilité prétendant que Maria les a provoqués, ce qui renforce les soupçons visant à croire qu'ils sont tous les deux des misogynes de la pire espèce. Mais lorsque Benjamin s'aperçoit que Maria a passé sous silence certaines précisions sur son passé, il commence à douter de sa cliente. De plus, se sentant fortement attiré par elle, il est prêt à abandonner sa famille et sa vie confortable pour suivre cette femme et son mystérieux secret... | DARK SECRET
Benjamin, a young lawyer and family man who has just started his own law firm, takes on a seemingly straightforward case. Dr. Maria Jonasson, his client, has accused two colleagues of raping her. The evidence seems clear cut: a medical examination, a witness who found Maria after the incident and the tape from a surveillance camera. The fact that the two suspects deny their guilt and claim that Maria provoked them, only appears to reinforce the impression that they are unrepentant misogynists. But holes begin to appear in Maria's story - she has omitted certain details about her past - and Benjamin begins to doubt her truthfulness. At the same time, however, he feels strongly attracted to her... |
| Né à Francfort en 1960, Martin Enlen travaille dans la production indépendante jusqu'en 1986 lorsqu'il s'inscrit à l'Académie de cinéma et de télévision de Munich. Il y étudie de 1986 à 1992, période durant laquelle il réalise quelques courts métrages: "Früjahrputz" (1987), "Der letzte Tanz" (1989), "Für Immer" (1990), "A Little Place in Heaven" (1990), "Pinwad" (1990) et "Aus gutem Grund" (1991). En 1995, il réalise ROULA, son premier long métrage de fiction, montré la même année au Festival des films du monde.
| Born in Frankfurt in 1960, Martin Enlen worked on independent production until 1986 when he enrolled in the Munich Academy of Television and Film. He studied at the academy from 1986 to 1992 during which time he also directed half a dozen shorts: "Früjahrsputz" (1987), "Der letzte Tanz" (1989), "Für immer" (1990), "A Little Place in Heaven" (1990), "Pinwand" (1990) and "Aus gutem Grund" (1991, nominated for an Oscar). Enlen has also directed a TV mini-series, "Schicksal der Woche" (1993) and a TV drama, "Töliche Hochzeit" (1994). ROULA (shown at last year's World Film Festival) was his first feature film.
