Philippe est peintre. Il mène ce qu'il nomme une vie "bourgeoise" aux côtés de sa femme et de ses enfants. Il découvre un jour que sa femme a un amant. Ils se séparent. C'est alors qu'il rencontre une jeune femme, mais il porte désormais en lui la culpabilité d'avoir, comme il le dit à son père, "abandonné" ses enfants. À partir de sa propre culpabilité, qui lui rend impossible le travail de peindre, il essaie de savoir pourquoi ses parents se sont séparés lorsqu'il était enfant. 		LE COEUR FANTÔME

Philippe is a painter. He leads an ordinary middle-class life with his wife and two children. One day he discovers that his wife is cheating on him. They separate. He meets a young woman but he feels guilty - as he tells his father - of having "abandoned" his children. His guilt prevents him from carrying on his work but it helps him understand why his parents separated when he was a child.
Fils du comédien Maurice Garrel, Philippe Garrel est né en 1948 à Paris. Il tourne son premier film à seize ans. Ses premiers films donnent une vision directe de la génération de ceux qui auront vingt ans en 1968. Il avait dit un jour au sujet de ses films, "qu'il fallait aller au cinéma pour planer, c'est-à-dire, par sensation". Son of the actor Maurice Garrel, Philippe Garrel was born in 1948 and made his first film, a short, at the age of 16. Influenced by Godard and Rivette, Garrel's films are filled with lucid imagery and opaque motives. He won the Jean-Vigo Prize in 1982 for L'ENFANT SECRET and the Silver Lion at Venice for J'ENTENDS PLUS LA GUITARE.
