Au coeur de l'été, Mike sort de prison, quatre années après un vol de banque perpétré avec la complicité de son frère Bona et de son meilleur ami Joukka. Ce jour-là, Mike revient à la maison et Bona lui prépare une belle réception, une véritable fête de Noël. Il y a seulement un petit problème: après le hold- up, personne d'autre que Mike n'a été arrêté; et pendant qu'il végétait en prison, Bona en a profité pour se marier avec sa petite copine. Joukka, l'autre complice du coup, a lui aussi un secret: il a gaspillé le butin, et il n'en reste plus rien. Sans oublier Hömäläinen, qui doit se présenter à la surprise-partie habillé en Père Noël, et qui est responsable d'avoir détruit les préparatifs du vol. It is the middle of summer. Mike is released from prison after having served his sentence for an armed robbery that he committed with his brother Bona and his best friend Joukka. Now that Mike is coming home, Bona decides to throw a huge party for him, a Christmas party. There is just one hitch. Mike was the only one who got caught and while he was in jail, Bona married his girlfriend. Joukka has a secret, too. He's squandered all the loot. And Hömäläinen, who is going to play Santa Claus for the party, was the one who bungled the arrangements for the robbery. Nobody knows about the others' little secrets; the party is ready to begin. |
| Considéré comme l'enfant terrible du théâtre finlandais, Jari Halonen quitte le milieu des planches et se dirige vers le cinéma en conservant le même humour acide et irrévérencieux qu'il déployait sur scène. Ses films sont: BACK TO THE USSR (1992) et LIPTON COCKTON IN THE SHADOWS OF SODOMA (1995), tous deux présentés dans plusieurs festivals internationaux.
| Founder of Helsinki's scandalous Theatre of God, Jari Halonen was considered the "enfant terrible" of the Finnish theatre before he quit the stage in the '80s, and it wasn't long before he earned a similar reputation in films (one magazine called him "the Hell's Angel without a bike of the Finnish cinema"). He made his directorial debut in 1992 with BACK TO THE USSR and directed LIPTON COCKTON IN THE SHADOWS OF SODOMA in 1995.
