Danse argentine de rythme lent, née de préoccupations sociales, le tango se danse en couple. C'est aussi un genre musical considéré dans son pays d'origine comme une institution culturelle qui, malgré le passage du temps, a réussi à former de nouveaux adeptes. Par le biais d'images d'archives, d'entrevues et de films tournés entre les années 30 et 70, AL CORAZÓN propose un tour d'horizon de cette forme d'expression restée chère au coeur des Argentins. À travers les paroles des chansons, se dégagent des thèmes reliés à certaines manifestations de l'âme argentine, entre autres: l'acte de la séduction, les rivalités entre les jeunes hommes de la haute bourgeoisie et les "compadritos" des classes inférieures, les heurs et malheurs de la prostitution. | AL CORAZÓN
The tango is more than just the national dance of Argentina; it is also a reflection of its soul. This film is not a history of the tango nor a chronicle of its occurrence in Argentinean movies. It is conceived as a tribute to the tango, with scenes and songs from various films made during the "golden age" of Argentine cinema between 1930 and 1980, assembled under several themes - seduction, rivalry between upper-class young men and the lower-class "compadritos", the depiction of women as prostitutes, and so on. Among the tango stars featured in the film are Hugo del Carril, Carlos Gardel, Tita Merello, Luis Sandrini, Mercedes Simone, Sabina Olmos, Azucena Maizani, Libertad Lamarque, Angel Vargas, Aníbal Troilo, Roberto Goyeneche, Alberto Castillo, Mariano Mores and Niní Marshall. |

| Born in La Plata, Argentina in 1945, Mario Sabato made his directorial debut in 1964 with "El nacimento de un libro". After two more shorts, he directed his first feature, Y QUÉ PATATÍN Y QUÉ PATATÁN, in 1970.
